Our Commitment to Interprofessional Education
The Center to Advance Interprofessional Education and Practice (CAIEP), formerly the Center for Excellence in Collaborative Education, has provided interprofessional education to the UNE community since 2010. Our name change, which took place in 2023, reflects the center’s interprofessional leadership and aspirations to engage students in all levels of interprofessional and collaborative learning. The center touches every health profession at UNE as well as many of the arts and sciences programs. As one alum put it: “IPE is a pillar of the UNE community.”
CAIEP provides a continuum of evidence-based, clinically relevant interprofessional programming across the University embedding values of equity, social justice, cultural humility, inclusivity, empathy, and collaborative clinical competence throughout. We believe that relevant learning depends upon the meaningful exchange of ideas and the development of strong cross-disciplinary relationships. At the heart of CAIEP’s accomplishments is a vibrant collaborative culture across programs. Students observe and experience collaboration among the faculty and in the curriculum, which they are then able to translate into their roles as future practitioners, workers, and leaders.
We invite you to join the conversation and advance your collaborative skills alongside your classmates and future colleagues at our knowledge exchanges and interactive activities.
