IPEC Event: Ghana Cross Cultural Health Immersion Program

12:00 pm - 12:00 pm
Ludcke Auditorium

The Cross Cultural Health Immersion brings students from six or more health professions together in Ghana for a life-changing interprofessional service learning experience. During this academic and cross-cultural exchange, students work alongside the Ghana Health Service, community health educators, and the community, to provide direct health services for patients with a wide variety of needs.

Students from all health professions programs are invited to participate, and will, in conjunction with participating faculty, develop, implement and evaluate health education curricula relevant to the population need.

Learner Objectives:

  1. Describe health care differences between Ghana and United States
  2. Describe how roles and responsibilities vary between professions from differing health care paradigms
  3. Describe the value of the Community Health Worker role in translation and navigation
  4. Describe how short term health care immersion experiences can enhance one’s progress on the cultural competency continuum

This event can be viewed from any computer via LIVESTREAM http://stream.une.edu/events.
