Choreography by Dana Dotson

Thursday, September 26th, 7pm / doors at 6:30 / pay what you wish

SPACE Gallery, 538 Congress Street, Portland ME 04101

Conversation to follow performance, with Amelia Garretson-Persans; UNE Associate Professor and Coordinator of Special Education Programs Dr. Audrey Bartholomew; and poet Alisha Goldblatt.

Ultrasound Dance uses light, choreography and music to elevate the intensely personal experience of the ultrasound. This human-scale representation is presented as part of UNE Art Gallery Biddeford’s exhibition "Light and Shadow: Motherhood, Creativity, and the Discourse of Ability", on view through October 20, 2024, in collaboration with SPACE Gallery.

Though the heavy moments of medical imaging experience are often hushed and marginalized, this hypnotic experimental dance piece grants us the freedom of reflection and the challenge of re-confrontation with shrouded somatic memories.

Please join us for the debut of this highly original and relevant new performance.

Co-hosted by SPACE and the UNE Art Galleries, with the support of the Kindling Fund
