"Circle of the Sun" opening reception

Circle of the Sun investigates the work of three alumni of the Arctic Circle Residency, all of whom have ties to Maine and visual vocabularies related to photography. Artists Justin Levesque, Katie McElearney, and Shoshannah White create work that poses questions about our ongoing relationships with the land, emphasizing the critical point of Arctic ecosystems’ impact on our world in the era of climate change. 

Presented in collaboration with UNE North, The Center for North Atlantic Studies at the University of New England, Circle of the Sun opens an invitation to question how we—in Maine and beyond—can think creatively about our place within the changing climate of the vibrant and challenging North Atlantic region.
