UNE recognized at NASPA Region 1 Conference
The University of New England received recognition for both our staff and programs at the recent National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) Region I Conference in Rhode Island. NASPA Region I encompasses all of the New England states and International Institutions that are members of NASPA.
Barbara Hazard, Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students received award recognition from the Region for her Years of Service to the Profession of Higher Education and Student Affairs.
The University was honored with an Award for State of Maine Program of the Year for its Bike and Transportation Program: Big Blue Goes Green. The awards committee was impressed with the collaboration involved in creating this program as well as its very real success in addressing the complex issues of parking while remaining consistent to our institutional values around environmental stewardship.
Finally, Jennifer DeBurro received both the state and regional award for Mid-Level Professional of the Year. This award is presented to the individual within the Region who has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the profession, has contributed to programs that address the needs of students and is experienced in creating campus environments that promote student learning and personal development. This is a huge achievement for Jen and UNE!
