Josh Pahigian's ESPN Sports Travel column explores the statues of Major League Baseball that enshrine the heroes of yore
Josh Pahigian, baseball writer and adjunct faculty member in the UNE Department of English and Language Studies, on Aug. 10, 2010 published a column on ESPN Sports Travel highlighting the scores of brilliantly rendered statues of baseball greats that can be found in and around the stadiums of the majors. "These gods in bronze allow fans of all ages to step back in time and to stand eye-to-eye with their favorite former stars, as well as with those legends of the game's even earlier eras. The better baseball statues portray the game's icons just the way we fans like to remember them." Find out which ballparks to visit. Pahigian is the author of seven baseball books, including the recently released The Seventh Inning Stretch and 101 Baseball Places to See Before You Strike Out.
