Marine Animal Rehabilitation Center featured on NRDC's OnEarth magazine website
The Marine Science Center's Marine Animal Rehabilitation Center (MARC) was profiled in a story and 14-photo slideshow on the National Resource Defense Council's OnEarth magazine website. The story is written by Emily Gertz, who was in Maine doing research on a reporting project about seals and ocean changes - like nitrogen pollution, acidification, and temperature shifts - that are being caused by human activities. Her stop at MARC was at the height of harbor seal pupping season, so the center's current patients included just more than 20 juvenile seals, in addition to a porpoise and about a dozen Kemp's Riley sea turtles.
