Russel Whitten and Bruce King's oil paintings on exhibit at UNE in Biddeford
The University of New England is hosting an exhibit of oil paintings by local artists Russel Whitten and Bruce King at its Campus Center on the Biddeford Campus. There are 24 oil paintings representing landscapes, figures and abstractions.
Whitten is influenced by other artists and minds that think outside the box. He says, "To be an artist is to be inspired. Inspiration is everywhere. Looking at other artist's works triggers an emotion and idea to jump off from and use in a painting. Take time every day, even if it is a five minute sketch, to be creative."
King grew up in an artistic atmosphere with a father as a photographer. At a young age, he played around with the camera and developed a passion for composition. He has been committed to painting since 2003. He has taken several painting classes from instructors in Southern Maine, and he is a member of several drawing circles through which he has been able to show his work.
The exhibit runs through July 31, 2010 and is free and open to the public. The Campus Center hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
