Third-year DPT students partner with the UNE Workplace Wellness Team and CHCC to develop brochure
Third-year DPT students Whitney Blais, Amanda Boetsch, Amy Bottomley, Scott Bottomley and Danielle Thompson recently partnered with the UNE Workplace Wellness Team and the Coastal Healthy Communities Coalition (CHCC) to develop a brochure targeting the prevention of work-related musculoskeletal disorders associated with computer terminal use in the office work setting.
Production of the brochure was funded by a small grant from the CHCC. The brochure was distributed to approximately 200 UNE employees during the Benefits Re-Enrollment Expositions sponsored by the Office of Human Resources on October 26th and 28th. The goal was to provide UNE employees with information about the risk factors for developing injuries associated with computer use, ergonomic tips regarding their workstations, and daily stretches designed to prevent the risk of developing these workplace injuries.
The brochures will be included with the materials that all new UNE employees receive during their orientation to the University. The students completed this project as part of their fall semester course on disease prevention and health promotion.
