Amy Keirstead presents research findings at the Inter-American Photochemical Society meeting in Mendoza, Argentina
Amy Keirstead, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry and Physics, presented her research at the 21st Inter-American Photochemical Society meeting, held May 17-20, 2011 in Mendoza, Argentina. Her presentation, entitled “Using the Photo-Fries Reaction to Investigate the Cage Effects of Ionic Liquids” included contributions from student co-authors Amber Zablowsky (Medical Biology, 2011) and Annie Leslie (Neuroscience, 2013). Dr. Keirstead was also a participant at the pre-conference workshop (May 16-17) that focused on the use of photochemistry and novel materials in artificial photosynthesis and solar energy design. While in Argentina, Dr. Keirstead visited the Universidad Nacional de Rio Cuarto (UNRC) where she met with colleagues and assisted with an Organic Chemistry teaching lab on the synthesis of conjugated dye molecules.
