Art Gallery's exhibition 'Feathered Hand' reviewed in Art New England
The UNE Art Gallery's exhibition "The Feathered Hand: Installation, Drawings, Prints by Alison Derby Hildreth" was reviewed in the March - April 2011 Art New England magazine by Carl Little.
"Alison Hildreth's complex aesthetic is tied to memory and desire," Little writes. "Natural history, geogrpahies, the Middle Ages, and contemporary literature inform this work. This vision gains new resonance in her solo show at the UNE Art Gallery."
"Hildreth is like Italo Calvino's Marco Polo, surveying the world, offering us intricate notes about real and invented lands. This is work, in the artist's word, 'to occupy a place that is not heavy with the weight of life.' Hildreth helps us to access that place in most memorable ways." The exhibition is on display through April 3rd.
