CEN faculty member Colin Willis publishes research article
Following a recent invited speaker presentation at the annual Society of Toxicologic Pathology 2010 meeting in Chicago, Colin Willis, Ph.D., has published an article in the society’s journal. This article is entitled “Glia-induced reversible disruption of the blood-brain barrier integrity and neuropathological response of the neurovascular unit”. The manuscript reviews Dr. Willis’ recent research on the blood-brain barrier and the relationship between vascular endothelial cells and other cellular components of the neurovascular unit. It also illustrates potential pharmacological modulation of glia for the therapy of disease. Dr. Willis is an assistant professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences in the College of Osteopathic Medicine and a member of the Center for Excellence in the Neurosciences.
