UHC pediatrician Andrew Tenenbaum profiled as one of 'Forty under 40' by Maine Sunday Telegram
The Maine Sunday Telegram has named pediatrician Andrew Tenenbaum, D.O., assistant professor, College of Osteopathic Medicine, as one of its "Forty under 40," honorees.
Tenenbaum is a provider at University Health Care for Kids and is medical director of the UNE-Ghana program. He was named Maine's Young Osteopathic Physician of the Year in 2010. He graduated from the UNE College of Osteopathic Medicine with honors in 2003.
Recipients of the Maine Sunday Telegram's "Forty under 40" recognition were nominated for their commitment to leadership, professional excellence and their communities.
"We're thrilled to launch our first-ever Forty under 40 program in southern Maine because it gives us an opportunity to recognize some incredibly talented achievers who have contributed so much to the state and their communities," said Richard L. Connor, president and CEO of MaineToday Media, which owns The Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram, the Waterville Morning Sentinel and the Kennebec Journal, along with their respective websites.
The 40 honorees represent a broad array of professions and reflect a diversity of services to Maine's economy and culture. They were honored during a boat tour of Casco Bay and its islands on July 14, 2011.
Tenenbaum was profiled in the Aug. 14, 2011 edition of the Telegram.
"Becoming so involved in so many families' and children's lives is an amazing feeling and honor," he told the Telegram. "Children are a joy to work with and never boring. They don't let you take yourself too seriously."
Outside of Maine, Tenenbaum has extended his medical practice to Ghana, Belize and Honduras, committed to working abroad once a year.
"It's a tremendous way to contribute to the welfare of others and it helps to put life into better perspective," he said.
