Kylie Bloodsworth presents research at two symposiums

Kylie Bloodsworth, UNE graduate student in marine sciences and Spartacus GK12 Fellow, recently presented her research at two symposiums.

At the Marine Ecology in the Gulf of Maine Symposium at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, Kylie presented the talk “Saco River plume influences the distribution of decapod and bivalve larvae within Saco Bay, Maine.” She later made a more extensive presentation of her findings at the New England Estuaries Research Symposium Spring 2012 Meeting in Plymouth, Massachusetts.

Kylie is completing her second year in Spartacus, the National Science Foundation GK12 funded project at UNE led by Stephan Zeeman, Ph.D., professor and chair, Department of Marine Sciences; Susan Hillman, Ph.D., professor of education; and Charles Tilburg, Ph.D., interim associate dean, College of Arts and Sciences and associate professor of marine sciences.

Throughout her time at UNE, Kylie has worked in K-12 classrooms supporting students doing field studies. She has worked at Loranger Middle School and Massabesic Middle School.  The Spartacus program is designed to support graduate fellows in their research while helping them improve communication skills by working with students of various ages.
