Marilyn Gugliucci lectures on ‘Learning by Living’ research project in Ireland
Director of Geriatric Education and Research Marilyn R. Gugliucci, Ph.D., lectured at Tallaght Hospital, Dublin Ireland, to the Trinity College Medical School faculty and hospital health practitioners as part of the Aois agus Eolas, the Centre for Ageing, Neuroscience and the Humanities International Lecture Series.
She was invited by Desmond O'Neill, MA MD FRCPI AGSF FRCP(Glasg), President of the European Union Geriatric Medicine Society and Professor for the Department of Medical Gerontology, Trinity College Dublin, Adelaide and Meath Hospital, in Dublin, Ireland. Gugliucci's lecture was focused on the Learning by Living Nursing Home Immersion Research Project and the Social Construction of Aging.
O'Neill is one of 70 geriatricians in Ireland, a number that is rising due to the esteem that is associated with being a geriatrician in the country. According to him, "Dr. Gugliucci provided a 'cracking good' lecture."
Gugliucci was representing the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine and The Gerontological Society of America, as she is the incoming chair for the Health Sciences Section that has 1,600 U.S. and international members.
