UNE College of Osteopathic Medicine graduate John Lowery wins Forty Under 40 award
John Lowery, DO, Ph.D., of Falmouth, Maine, has been recognized by Maine Today Media as a 2012 "Forty Under 40" award winner. Lowery, 32, is the first student to pursue and complete a dual D.O./Ph.D. program from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine.
According to the Portland Press Herald, Lowery has spent the past several years balancing family, education, and volunteering efforts in pursuit of his Ph.D. and medical residency. Lowery is currently in a three-year family medicine residency at Central Maine Medical Center.
Lowery said the program “offered collaboratively through UNECOM and the University of Maine Graduate School, has served to bridge my formal clinical education with cutting edge neuroscience research and has well equipped me to practice evidence-based medicine. My research interests involve understanding mechanisms of pain and addiction and focus primarily on drug development.” Read the story
