UNE's Marine Animal Rehabilitation Center to release four seals
The University of New England Marine Animal Rehabilitation Center (UNE/MARC) will be releasing three seals, all rescued from beaches in Maine, on Sunday, April 1, 2012 at 10 am at Gilbert Place, Mile Stretch, Biddeford, Maine. The release will be open to the public and provides a unique opportunity to observe local marine wildlife.
Three grey seals, all rehabilitated by MARC for various health reasons, will be returned to the ocean with a clean bill of health. One of the seals, named "Capelli d'angelo," will be fitted with a satellite tag to track her movements post-release.
UNE/MARC is a not for profit organization that operates the only Marine Mammal and Sea Turtle rehabilitation program in Maine. MARC staff treated over 90 seals last year.
