Anouar Majid contributes book chapter on the geography and culture of inequality
Anouar Majid, Ph.D., UNE vice president for global affairs, published the opening chapter in a new book titled The Rise of the Global South Philosophical, Geopolitical and Economic Trends of the 21st Century. The book is edited by Justin Dargin and published by World Scientific. Majid's article is titled: "How the South Was Born: Reflections on the Geography and Culture of Inequality."
In it, Majid reflects about how the year 1492 marks the rise of a polarized world - a powerful and dominating North and a weak and backward South. This centuries-old global polar structure is, however, undermined by new economic and political realities. The article is available free online, courtesy of the publisher.
