Lara Carlson elected as president of American College of Sports Medicine New England Chapter
Lara Carlson, Ph.D., CSCS, FACSM, assistant professor of applied exercise science and fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine, has been recently nominated and elected to serve as president of the American College of Sports Medicine New England Chapter (NEACSM), with a three-year tenure.
The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), founded in 1954, is the global authority in exercise science and sports medicine with more than 45,000 members and certified professionals from 90 countries, worldwide. ACSM is dedicated to advancing and integrating scientific research to provide educational and practical applications of exercise science and sports medicine. The NEACSM is one of twelve regional chapters of the American College of Sports Medicine, representing Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.
ACSM Executive Director Dino Costanzo stated: “We are so excited to announce that Dr. Lara Carlson will be re-joining the NEACSM Executive Leadership this fall as she begins her term as chapter president-elect. Dr. Carlson will be the first NEACSM past-president since its founding in 1973 to serve a second term as chapter president (serving her first term in 2007).
