Ed Bilsky presents at pain research conference
Edward Bilsky, Ph.D., UNE vice president for research and scholarship, presented at Arrowhead’s Annual Pain and Migraine Therapeutics Summit in Boston last week.
Bilsky’s presentation, titled “Lighting the Song with a Sense of Color: A Humanistic Response to Pain Research,” focused on the roles colleges and universities can play in helping to address the burden chronic pain places on the individual and community.
Bilsky discussed the efforts UNE is making in the areas of pain research and education, such as growing a basic science research program that studies the neurobiology of pain, building a patient-centered outcomes research group, implementing an interprofessional approach to training health professionals in chronic pain prevention and treatment, and engaging the arts and humanities in pain treatment.
Arrowhead, the leading U.S. conference covering pain research and therapeutics, involves professionals from the pharmaceutical, biotech, device and medical communities, as well as academics, government officials and investors.
