Fire safety drill for UNE resident assistants covered by WGME TV-13
UNE welcomed members of the City of Biddeford Fire Emergency Services department to campus August 19 for a training session that allowed resident assistants for the upcoming academic year to practice proper fire safety protocols.
The event, which was coordinated by the UNE Office of Safety and Security and the Office of Student Affairs, was the subject of a report on the WGME TV-13 evening news.
Using nontoxic smoke, the firefighters turned Padua Residence Hall into a “smokehouse” so that students could practice evacuating a dorm under smoky conditions. Students also had the chance to try on some of the firefighters’ equipment and to tour the inside of a fire truck.
