‘Sacred Partners’ art exhibit by Debra Bickford on display at Campus Center
“Sacred Partners,” a series of artwork by Maine artist Debra Bickford, will be on display at the University of New England’s Biddeford Campus Center from October 4, 2014 to November 1, 2014. An artist’s reception will be held on Friday, October 10th, 5-7pm.
Bickford has been a visual arts teacher at Westbrook High School for over 27 years. She teaches a broad range of visual arts classes to every level of learner. With a B.F.A. from Maine College of Art and a B.S. in Art Education from the University of Maine, she is currently the President Elect of the Maine Art Education Association and has served on the board for over eight years.
Bickford describes the “Sacred Partners” exhibit as a “work that explores our impact on the environment and the often hidden beauty that surrounds us.” The body of work, according to Bickford, represents a visual response to the many ways the human species impacts the natural world we live in. “My goal was to take ideas that may be an ugly truth and turn them into a beautiful reality,” she explained.
The exhibit is free and open to the public. UNE’s Campus Center is located at 11 Hills Beach Road, Biddeford, Maine. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. For more information, contact Diane Noble by email or phone (207-284-6394).
