UNE's School of Community and Population Health chapter of Gamma Chi named "New Chapter of the Year" by Delta Omega
The School of Community and Population Health is proud to announce that its chapter of the Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health, Gamma Chi, has received the "New Chapter of the Year Award" from the society’s National Council. This honor is awarded to new chapters, established for three years or less, that have displayed the most activity, service and participation.
Gamma Chi was established in February 2014. Examples of the chapter’s activities include:
- The induction of student, alumni, faculty and honorary members
- The election of chapter officers
- The creation of a chapter website and social media pages
- The preparation of a webinar series highlighting UNE public health research
The chapter officers, President Kelly Hickman, Vice President Jordan Ehni, and Treasurer/Secretary Ian Imbert (all Master of Public Health students or graduates), and members have been central to the successful and active formation of Gamma Chi.
Founded in 1924, Delta Omega is a national honor society existing to encourage research and scholarship among graduate students of public health and to recognize attainment and achievement in the field of public health. With over 70 active chapters, Delta Omega and its members are dedicated to ensuring the quality of the field of public health and to the protection and advancement of the health of all people.
