Biddeford Free Clinic receives funding to continue partnership with Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine and Pharmacy
On February 20, 2015, the Courier announced that the Biddeford Free Clinic recently received $18,000 in grant funding from the United Way of York County, part of which will be used to support the training of students in the College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM) and the College of Pharmacy (COP).
The Biddeford Free Clinic was established in 1993 by Frank Kleeman, M.D., an adjunct faculty member of COM, as a provider of health care to the uninsured of Southern Maine. It is the only free clinic in Maine with a licensed pharmacy.
Second year medical students gain real-world experience at the clinic where, under the supervision of physicians, they provide care to patients. Many faculty members and students in COP provide invaluable services to the clinic’s pharmacy and have done so continuously since 2009.
