Dora Mills interviewed by WAGM TV on launch of new UNE program to place interprofessional heath care student teams in Aroostook County
Dora Anne Mills, M.D., M.P.H., FAAP, vice president for Clinical Affairs, was interviewed on April 14, 2015, by WAGM TV, while in Presque Isle, Maine, where UNE launched a new project, made possible by a grant from the Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation, in which teams of UNE health professions students will be grouped together in interprofessional teams to acquire training in health care settings throughout Aroostook County.
Mills explained, "We’re educating and training health professions students together … so they can practice as more effective health care teams."
Mills noted that the project has two goals. It seeks to address the public health issue of patient safety, as most medical errors, she said, are due to poor teamwork; and the initiative helps to combat a chronic health care workforce shortage in Aroostook, Maine’s northernmost county.
WFVX Bangor also published news of the project on April 13.
