Gayle Brazeau provides career planning and development expertise through The Compass Program for Academic Advancement
Gayle Brazeau, Ph.D., dean of UNE’s College of Pharmacy, was one of four faculty members who offered professional development expertise through The Compass Program for Academic Advancement, an interprofessional online course that helps early and mid-career faculty to develop essential skills for academic advancement.
Brazeau was responsible for leading the Career Planning and Development section of the program. During this module, she guided participants through exercises and discussions related to:
- Understanding higher education culture
- Maintaining a work-life balance and coping with academic pressures
- Function, structure and content of an academic portfolio
- Improving CV content and style
The Compass Program is offered through the Academy for Academic Leadership. It provides training in the areas of educational research, grant application writing, article publication and academic career development.
