Jennifer Gunderman joins Statewide Coordinating Council for Public Health
Jennifer Gunderman, MPH, assistant lecturer for the School of Community and Population Health, has been named the higher education representative on the Statewide Coordinating Council (SCC) for Public Health. According to their Purpose and Mission, the SCC is "a representative statewide body of public health stakeholders for collaborative public health planning and coordination".
There are 23 seats on the SCC held by representatives from Maine's public health districts and major stakeholders. Together they work to maintain the integrity of Maine's public health system, integrate public health expertise and input from across the state, disseminate and implement the state's health plan and assist in the assurance of effective, evidence-based public health services.
In her role as higher education representative, Gunderman will provide a perspective that will foster collaboration between academia, governmental public health, community based organizations, healthcare, and other public health partners.
