Jeri Fox featured in 'Current Publishing' article
Jeri Fox, Ph.D., associate professor of aquaculture and aquarium science, was featured in a Current Publishing article that discussed her work as a professor, her commitment to innovation at UNE and the future of aquaculture.
The article began by describing the most recent trip Fox and her ecology students took to Panema City. Fox put together an engaging opportunity for her students to interact with natives, examine wildlife in their natural habitats and even spend time with a sloth.
Fox’s work toward making UNE a self-sufficient campus in terms of growing its own plants and fish was also highlighted. Her students are growing seaweed that can be used for food and sea salt, and Fox has a vision to use the trout from UNE’s aquaponic tanks, and the fruit grown naturally on campus, to feed people.
The article ended with comments from Fox who articulated her enthusiasm for her students’ role in advancing aquaculture’s successful future.
