Josh Pahigian’s latest book garners media attention
While it may seem like winter will never end, spring will be here soon and with it the start of a new baseball season. As Major League Baseball teams opened their spring training camps in Florida, Josh Pahigian, M.F.A., adjunct faculty member in the Center for Global Humanities, visited the WCSH-6 program 207 to talk about his recently published second edition of 101 Baseball Places to See Before You Strike Out.
Pahigian discussed some of the interesting sites profiled in the book, which provides colorful photos and stories detailing baseball destinations like the Field of Dreams movie site, the amusement park owned by former Red Sox left fielder Mike Greenwell, and the Homer Simpson statue at a minor league park in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The first edition of 101 Baseball Places to See Before You Strike Out was named a finalist for the 2008 Casey Award, presented annually to the best new baseball book. This new edition includes 25 new sites and a complete re-ranking of America’s best baseball attractions. In the past two weeks, it has received favorable reviews from the Maine Edge and the Holliston Reporter.
An interview with Pahigian was also the subject of a podcast on Ron Kaplan’s Baseball Bookshelf. And 101 Baseball Places to See Before You Strike Out was featured on the Writer’s Journey blog.
