Randy Schwartz published in Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Reports
Randy Schwartz, MSPH, adjunct professor for the School of Community and Population Health, co-authored an article published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in their Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Reports (MMWR), entitled, “Indicators for Chronic Disease Surveillance — United States, 2013.”
The article discusses chronic disease indicators (CDIs) developed by the CDC in collaboration with the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists and the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors. The CDIs are available online, allowing public health workers and policymakers access to data on chronic diseases and related risk factors.
With chronic diseases accounting for seven of the top 10 causes of death in the U.S., CDIs provide essential information for the development and evaluation of public health interventions aimed at chronic disease.
