SNAP-Ed educators appear on The Chew
In September, a crew from nationally syndicated talk show, The Chew, was on location at the community kitchen in the St. Mary’s Nutrition Center in Lewiston to tape a segment showing viewers easy ways to feed their families healthy food on a limited budget.
Local Maine Maine Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program – Education (SNAP-Ed) nutrition educators, Paul Drowns and Rebecca Dugan, worked with The Chew’s guest chef, Daphne Oz, to prepare “The Works Pizza,” a low-cost, easy and healthy recipe. The recipe was courtesy of Cooking Matters, one of eight curricula implemented statewide by the SNAP-Ed program.
Maine SNAP-Ed is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, administered by the Maine Department of Health and Human Services and implemented statewide by the University of New England’s School of Community and Population Health through contracts with the Healthy Maine Partnerships. Maine SNAP-Ed educates low-income families on low-cost, healthy eating and active lifestyles. Please contact mainesnap-ed@une.edu or (207) 221-4560 for more information.
