UNE welcomes new staff to the College of Graduate and Professional Studies
The University of New England’s College of Graduate and Professional Studies (CGPS) is pleased to welcome Laudan Ghayebi, M.P.H. as the new program manager for the Graduate Programs in Public Health, and Nang H. Tin Maung, Ph.D., M.P.H. as field practicum coordinator.
The University recently transitioned its Graduate Certificate and Master of Public Health programs into the College of Graduate and Professional Studies (CGPS) in an effort to align all online programs under a cohesive, student-centered mission. Ghayebi and Tin Maung will provide administrative leadership and vision for the public health programs within CGPS.
“In CGPS, we pride ourselves in upholding our student-centered mission,” says Martha Wilson, Ph.D., dean of the College of Graduate and Professional Studies, associate provost for Online Worldwide Learning. “As Ghayebi and Tin Maung join the public health team, not only are they committed to upholding this mission, but they also will be critical in providing our students the best possible preparation for their future professional endeavors.”
Ghayebi brings to UNE an exceptional track record in the field of public health, with more than 10 years of experience. She has worked closely with local and regional government agencies on various community-based public health campaigns, and has spent a majority of her career working in an academic setting. Most recently, Ghayebi served as an epidemiologist at the Maine Center for Disease Control, with a focus on infectious disease epidemiology. Ghayebi received her MPH in Epidemiology and Global Health from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health in New York City.
Tin Maung brings valuable experience to UNE in the public health field, most recently completing a postdoctoral research fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. She received her Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Massachusetts Medical School and her M.P.H. from Harvard University’s T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
“We are excited to welcome both Ghayebi and Tin Maung to the College of Graduate and Professional Studies,” says Jayne Pelletier, Ph.D., director of academic partnerships. “They bring extensive experience in both academics and field practice that will be of huge value to our current and future Public Health students.”
