Ali Ahmida discusses Syria on MPBN’s 'Maine Calling'
On March 14, 2016, Ali Ahmida, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Political Science, was a guest on the MPBN program “Maine Calling” to discuss “The Syrian Refugee Crisis—Five Years and Counting.” Joining him as guests were Maple J. Razsa, associate professor in the Global Studies Program at Colby College, and Holly Frew of CAREUSA.
Ahmida discussed how the political uprising in Syria has changed over the past five years. “The Syrian revolution or uprising started as a democratic uprising of the people,” he explained, “but it became militarized and radicalized and ended up becoming a regional and international proxy war.”
