Holly Parker presents at Envision Maine’s education and innovation summit
Holly Parker, M.Ed., Chief Innovation Strategist, gave a talk at “A Summit on Education and Innovation in a Changing World,” an event organized by Envision Maine.
In her panel presentation, titled “What Are Education Innovators Doing and What Do They Need?” Parker joined panelists Gordon Donaldson, a retired member of the University of Maine system; Michelle Neujahr of Southern Maine Community College; David Sullivan of Breakwater School and Brenda LaVerdiere, of Academy Hill School and the 2015 Franklin County Teacher of the Year. They addressed what they have learned as innovators in their respective spaces, including K-12 classrooms and institutes of higher education, and approaches they have taken.
The primary goal of the summit was to learn about and celebrate the innovative thinking, design and practice currently happening in Maine education. Through asset-based discussion, attendees collaborated on ways to tackle statewide challenges to student success.
Parker stated, “I really enjoyed hearing from Maine students about what has been successful and what has been challenging in their learning journeys.”
She continued, “It was great to be there with many other members of the UNE community to explore how UNE's unique strengths can play a role in shaping Mainers' learning experiences.”
