Lara Carlson appears on Biddeford Public Access to discuss motorsports research
Lara Carlson, DPE. FACSM, CSCS, associate professor in the Westbrook College of Health Professions, appeared on “Issues that Matter,” a program on Biddeford Public Access.
During the show, Carlson discussed the myth that racecar driving is easy and the stress drivers experience while competing such as heat, G force and the physicality of driving a racecar. She also discussed the importance of her research given how many people, both professional and amateur, participate in the sport. “We think of the top athletes in racing, but there’s probably 500,000 weekend warriors. So at a grassroots level there’s a lot of people that race every weekend and we have two tracks right here in Maine.”
