Largest class in UNE history—class of 2020—moves in with a little help from their friends
Sunday, August 28 was move-in day at UNE for new students, and the University welcomed them in a big way -- a fitting reception for the largest class in UNE history.
The class of 2020 arrived on campus with smiles on their faces and carloads of boxes to unpack. In keeping with UNE tradition, members of several student athletic teams were on hand to help out with the hoisting, lifting and carrying. Among those who volunteered their time and muscles were team members from lacrosse, men’s golf, women’s soccer, rugby and cross country. In addition, it was the second year that student move-in volunteers known as the “Storm Front” pitched in, and according to Kevin Taschereau, associate director for Student Activities and Organizations, the number of Storm Front participants doubled from last year.
Hopefully, now with beds made, furniture arranged and final touches being added to their dorm rooms, UNE’s new arrivals will turn their attention to the First Day Fireworks to be held on August 31 by the riverfront to celebrate the first day of classes.
