Vasiliki Maseli presents at ADEA Annual Session and Exhibition
Vasiliki Maseli, D.D.S., M.S., FIADFE, assistant clinical professor in the College of Dental Medicine, spoke at the 2016 American Dental Education Association (ADEA) Annual Session and Exhibition, held March 12-15 in Denver, Colorado.
At this meeting, which is the premier professional development and networking event for dental, allied dental and advanced dental education colleagues, Maseli presented as a Fellow of the ADEA Summer Program for Emerging Academic Leaders.
Maseli’s talk, titled “Dental school non-tenure track faculty promotion: guidelines, requirements and incentives," addressed the dramatic shift in dental faculty appointments toward the Non-Tenure Track (NTT). The initial results of her research showed that there is considerable variation among dental schools with regard NTT faculty titles, as well as their contractual status and promotion guidelines.
Ultimately, when data has been compiled from all US dental schools, the findings will be a resource for individuals seeking NTT faculty status at dental schools. Furthermore, it will allow dental schools to compare their practices and hiring of NTT faculty and will facilitate the development of best practices.
