‘The American Journal of Managed Care’ interviews UNE’s Ed Li about the benefits of biosimilars

Edward Li

Edward Li, Pharm.D., M.P.H., BCOP, associate professor in the College of Pharmacy, spoke with the American Journal of Managed Care (AJMC) about the importance of biosimilars in oncology care.

In his talk, Li said that the impact that generics have on bringing down the cost of branded drugs needs to happen in the biologics space. This would enable the industry to save money and improve access to medications and population outcomes.

“The top 3 medications that we use in this country are cancer-related medications, and so it's clear that we need to find a mechanism to reduce our spending on these products,” Li said. “By nature of saving that money and improving access to these medications and other medications, our outcomes for the whole population will improve.”
