An exhibition of art work titled Maine Expression by Portland artist Russ Cox will be on display at the University of New England’s Biddeford Campus Center from September 1 to October 2.

Cox’s largescale oil paintings evoke the sensory feeling associated with place, nature and experience. His works evolve from a process of applying layer upon layer of paint with multiple glazes to create movement, translucency and depth. He considers a painting complete if it reaches the point of evoking an experiential feeling, with multiple viewers connecting with their own individualized interpretation.

More of Cox’s work can be seen at Casco Bay Artisans in Portland’s Old Port.

The exhibit is free and open to the public. UNE’s Campus Center is located at 11 Hills Beach Road, Biddeford, Maine. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. For more information, contact Diane Noble by email or phone (207-284-6394).
