UNE’s Gayle Brazeau and Edward Li participate in Challenge Cancer Conference
Representing UNE’s College of Pharmacy, Gayle Brazeau, Ph.D., and Edward Li, Pharm.D., M.P.H., BCOP, attended the Challenge Cancer Conference hosted by the Maine Impact Cancer Network.
Now in its second year, the conference provided attendees with the opportunity to learn about the current state of cancer in Maine, share ideas, network and plan for collaborative efforts over the next year to reduce cancer rates. A key component of the conference was a conversation on the Listening Report and Common Agenda. This compilation of community conversations and interviews conducted with 670 Maine residents provided insight into the ways that cancer affects Maine communities. Brazeau and Li supported these efforts by serving on the Cancer Network’s Leadership Roundtable and Data Team, respectively.
An initiative of the Maine Cancer Foundation, the Maine Impact Cancer Network is a collective impact project working to create system-wide change. It has worked to connect individuals and organizations from distinct sectors and create a community action plan with the goal of reducing cancer in Maine.
