UNE’s Jane O’Brien authors 5th edition of ‘Introduction to Occupational Therapy’
University of New England Professor Jane Clifford O’Brien, Ph.D., FAOTA, OTR/L, authored the 5th edition of Introduction to Occupational Therapy, a textbook that provides a complete overview of the profession and the practice of occupational therapy.
The new edition features updated materials with emphasis on the 100th anniversary of the profession, a new chapter on cultural competence, expanded practice information in each chapter, revised case studies and activities, expanded information on the role of occupational therapy assistants and a new appendix with sample intervention activities. O’Brien also created materials for the companion website, Evolve, that includes answers to review questions, crossword puzzles and student quizzes to supplement the textbook.
Current UNE OT students from the Class of 2017 are featured on the cover of the textbook. Those students include Megha Panchal, Richard Otchere and Sophia Hartigan. Peter DaSilva (M.S.O.T. ‘17), Assistant Clinical Professor MaryBeth Patnaude. M.S., OTR/L, and Assistant Clinical Professor Elizabeth Crampsey, M.S., OTR/L, BCP, wrote testimonials for the textbook describing their paths to the profession. Professor Patnaude also served as a reviewer.
O’Brien also authored both the 3rd and 4th editions of this textbook which is published by Elsevier, the leading publisher of healthcare textbooks.
