Paintings by local artist Art Schaefer on display at UNE’s Biddeford Campus Center
An exhibition of paintings in oil and acrylic by Freeport artist Art Schaefer will be on display at the University of New England’s Biddeford Campus Center from July 2 to 31. An opening reception will be held on site on July 19, 5:30-7 p.m.
Schaefer paints both en plein air and his Freeport studio. His style and subject matter vary, encompassing a wide range of colorful, personality-driven animal portraiture, landscapes, seascapes and explorations of livestock and wildlife.
Schaefer studies with Diane Dahlke and others at the Maine College of Art (MECA) Continuing Studies, and he takes drawing and acrylic ink classes through local community education programs. He has attended workshops with noted landscape painters, including Colin Page, Bjorn and Tollef Runquist as well as West Coast impressionist John Cosby.
He is a member of the Community House Artists, and his work has been shown in local businesses and in exhibitions at Aldermere Farm in Rockport, Merrymeeting Adult Education Center, the Yarmouth Public Library and other venues.
The exhibit is free and open to the public. UNE’s Campus Center is located at 11 Hills Beach Road, Biddeford, Maine. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. For more information, contact Diane Noble by email or phone (207-284-6394).
