UNE's Takashi Komabayashi publishes endodontics textbook
Takashi Komabayashi, D.D.S., M.Dent.Sc., Ph.D., clinical professor in the College of Dental Medicine, has published Clinical Cases in Endodontics, part of the Clinical Cases series by Wiley-Blackwell.
The work presents actual clinical cases, accompanied by academic commentary, to educate the reader about essential topics in endodontic therapy. It includes an introduction from Komabayashi and a chapter on non-surgical root canal treatment written by Andrew Shur, D.M.D., assistant clinical professor in the College of Dental Medicine. Issues addressed in the textbook include common diagnoses, the preparation of treatment plans, nonsurgical root canal treatment, re-treatment, periapical surgery, internal and external resorption, emergencies and trauma, and treating incompletely developed apices.
Rachel McKee Garoufalis, D.M.D, assistant clinical professor, provided clinical knowledge for the text and twenty-three UNE dental students assisted in reviewing the publication. Oran Suta, B.F.A., medical illustrator for the College of Osteopathic Medicine, and Elizabeth Dyer, M.L.I.S., A.H.I.P., associate dean of Library Services, lent their expertise to the work.
