UNE graduate interning with the Buffalo Bills featured in article on national sports website
Andrea Gosper (Health Sciences, ’19) is working long days in the National Football League (NFL) in her new role with the Buffalo Bills scouting department.
Gosper, a former intern with the UNE football coaching staff, is in the middle of a year-long, paid internship with the Bills.
A reporter for The Athletic, a sports website that covers national stories from top professional and college sports teams, recently caught up with Gosper at Bills training camp at St. John Fisher College in Pittsford, New York.
“Learning so much at once and getting the daily routine down is a challenge,” Gosper told The Athletic. “But the more you do it, the easier it is. I came in with football knowledge as a fan, but now I have a football IQ.”
Last year Gosper was invited by the NFL to take part in its Women’s Careers in Football Forum in Indianapolis, Indiana. The forum helps the NFL identify qualified women to join its next generation of leaders. While attending the forum, Gosper met the Bills’ general manager, Brandon Beane, and assistant general manager, Joe Schoen. A few weeks later, she received a call offering her the position.
Gosper says her time with the UNE football team prepared her for this opportunity. She worked with the offensive scout team and broke down practice and game video.
Despite being a lifelong New England Patriots' fan, Gosper says her allegiance will be with the Bills while she's working with the team.
