UNE remains number one college in Maine for getting a job
For the third year in a row, the University of New England was named the number one college or university in the state of Maine for graduates to get jobs, according to Zippia, a website to help recent college graduates with their career choices.
Zippia analyzed data from the Department of Education College Scorecard to make its determinations, using the database to search for the college in each state with the highest listed job placement numbers 10 years after graduation. UNE’s job placement rate increased in 2020 to 94%, up from an already impressive 92.83% in 2019.
UNE President James Herbert, Ph.D., says that an institution’s ability to prepare students for employment is a crucial factor for both students and their families when deciding where to attend college. UNE, he said, makes it a priority to graduate students who are career-ready.
“UNE’s curriculum, with its strong emphasis on hands-on learning, gives students a complete package of skills. Through labs and fieldwork, patient-centered care, and internships, our students gain real-world experience that is invaluable to potential employers,” Herbert said. “Our students leave UNE well positioned to enter the workforce and hit the ground running in their careers. It is a remarkable return on investment for them.”
The analysis by Zippia included both public and private, non-profit schools that confer at a minimum a bachelor’s degree.
