Photographs of Biddeford Pool now on display at Campus Center
An exhibition of photographs by Maine artist Desirée Stallings is on display at the University of New England’s Biddeford Campus Center now through Aug. 3. The exhibit, “Biddeford Pool, Through My Eyes,” highlights scenes in the tidal basin, where Stallings vacationed as a child and where she has lived since 2017.
“Summer vacation at ‘The Pool’ was a favorite part of my childhood,” Stallings reflected. “I’m now blessed to be living here year-round in this beautiful, quaint village as a grown up ‘kid.’”
Images from Stallings’ collection include notable Biddeford landmarks, such as Wood Island Lighthouse and the Biddeford Pool Beach.
“The scenery and familiar Biddeford Pool landmarks, in all four seasons, never stop exciting my senses and appreciation of this wonderful, family-rich place,” she said. “I love capturing what I see in the quiet time of a beach walk, a foggy day, snow-filled playtime, or a blue sky, sun/cloud-filled rock hopping jaunt.”
“Biddeford Pool, Through My Eyes,” is free and open to the public. Masks are optional indoors for visitors to UNE’s campuses. The Campus Center is located at 11 Hills Beach Road, Biddeford, Maine. Summer hours are Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturdays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sundays noon to 6 p.m.
