Student art exhibit on display at Engine Gallery

An exhibit titled, “We Are Not Done Yet,” featuring works of art by UNE students, recently opened at Engine Gallery in Biddeford.

The exhibit showcases the students’ wide-ranging interests and concerns. Their work as a whole reveals the complexities of life as a young student in the 21st century. Each artist questions the world and their place in it in unorthodox and unique ways.

The works were created by students in the ART 395 Studio Concentration Seminar with instructor Stephen Burt, B.F.A., M.F.A., associate professor of art in the School of Arts and Humanities. The objectives of this course were to expose students to the demands and rewards of professional studio practice, to develop a personal working knowledge of the creative process, and to create a body of work culminating in a professional exhibition.

Students showcasing their work are William Cox (Psychology/Art and Design Media, ’23), Isabella Dube (Marine Affairs, ’24), Zachary Fagan (Art and Design Media, ’24), Lilliana Gurney (Medical Biology/Pre-Dental Medicine ’24), Morgan Holley (Health Sciences/Athletic Training, ’24), Shelby Kana (Social and Cultural Studies, ’23), Johnna Scott (Art Education Studies ’23), Jordyn Tullock (Health Wellness and Occupational Studies, ’25) and Edward Upton (Marine Science-Biology, ’23).

Engine’s mission is to connect and inspire our community through art, design, and education and envisions a community and economy in which all three are valued, integrated, and celebrated.

The exhibit will be on display at until February 2.
