UNE’s PSI CHI Honor Society Chapter welcomes 26 new members
The University of New England’s PSI CHI Chapter, which recognizes outstanding student achievement in psychology, animal behavior, and neuroscience, recently announced the induction of 26 new undergraduate members, its biggest group to date.
For the first time in two years, the induction ceremony was held in person on April 8, 2022, under the supervision of PSI CHI faculty advisor, Jennifer Stiegler-Balfour, Ph.D., associate professor and assistant academic director in the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences with the assistance of PSI CHI president Aubrey Sahouria, vice president Kristen Lebel, secretary Emily Williams, treasurer Zoë Barrett and communications editor Emily Newborough.
In addition to honoring all new inductees, the UNE PSI CHI Chapter also celebrated the chapter’s graduating seniors and the induction of new officers for the next academic year.
Jonathan Millen, Ph.D., dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Amy Keirstead, Ph.D., associate dean of the College of Arts and Science, UNE’s first lady Lynn Brandsma, Ph.D., and faculty from the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences joined the celebration to recognize the students’ achievements.
Founded in 1929 during the International Congress of Psychology, PSI CHI is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is an affiliate of both the American Psychological Association (APA) and the American Psychological Society (APS). With the stated mission of encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining excellence in scholarship in the science of psychology, PSI CHI has grown to become one of the largest and most successful honor societies in the world with more than 1,000 chapters and over 800,000 members.
