Acrylics by local artist Diane Noble on display at UNE Campus Center in Biddeford
A series of paintings by local artist Diane Noble will be on display at the UNE Campus Center in Biddeford from Sept. 30 to Oct. 30. An artist reception will be held at the Campus Center on Friday, Oct. 6, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Noble is an acrylic painter whose work primarily focuses on landscapes with panoramic views of wide-open spaces. Her works often reflect coastal themes, featuring rowboats, lobster boats, and marshes, as well as other aspects of the Maine landscape. Her exhibit at the Campus Center, “Boats, Islands, Marshes and Rocks,” reflects scenes in which Noble says she can envision herself.
“I paint scenes where I love to be or where I imagine I could be,” the artist said. “I am drawn to marshes, coves, inlets, and distant islands with light and reflections.”
Noble holds a Bachelor of Arts in Art from Queens College and a master’s degree in art education from Hartford Art School at the University of Hartford. She is a former art teacher with the Saco School Department. Now retired, she spends much of her time painting plein-air and in her studio in Hills Beach — down the street from UNE’s Biddeford Campus — as well as Maine’s mid-coast towns.
The Campus Center is located at 11 Hills Beach Road, Biddeford. Hours for the academic year are Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
