Searching for a Unicorn in Maine’s Forests

The northern bog lemming is one of Maine’s most elusive creatures. Traditional methods of tracking wildlife, such as trapping and surveying, have been ineffective in determining the location and number of northern bog lemmings across the northern United States. New techniques used by Zach Olson, Ph.D., an associate professor of animal behavior at UNE, are flipping the script in identifying this threatened animal. Learn more
